Philippine Hamen is a French design student, currently in her final year of Furniture Design at the Cass College of Arts and Design. She has previously studied Architecture, and has graduated from Modern Literature in France. Her practice is deeply influenced by her educational background, and her hand-made pieces are the result of a tension between ergonomic research, design and craft. They aim to establish a dialogue with the body more than with the eyes, and would belong to what she calls “somatic design”.
